MITCHELL, S.D. – In a meeting between two teams previously atop the GPAC standings, No. 1 Northwestern handed Dakota Wesleyan its first conference loss, sweeping the Tigers in Mitchell.

How It Happened
Northwestern made it a short afternoon for themselves with a sweep of Dakota Wesleyan, taking down the Tigers in convincing fashion.
An 11-1 run in the first was the catalyst in putting up a 25-14 win. The Raiders took four of the final six points to close out the set and take a 1-0 lead.
It was another fast start for the visiting Raiders in set two, opening up a 15-5 lead and grabbing momentum early. Zavyr Metzger put together an impressive run in the set, scoring on three consecutive plays with two kills and a block on the way to another 25-14 win.
Dakota Wesleyan attempted to extend the match in the third, going ahead 4-1 to hold an early advantage. Northwestern then responded to open up a 13-7 lead capped by 5-0 run and back-to-back aces from Liv Reitsma. The Tigers continued to battle, however, coming within a point at 18-17. Jazlin Douma closed matters out this time, picking up two kills and a block for the final three points and the match win.
