The NAIA Championship Series field of 20 teams will be selected on Sunday, November 16th. As that date approaches I felt it would be good to review the process for selection.
For reference, everything talked about in this video can be found the NAIA Football Selection Committee Policy manual. The manual gives a full overview of how teams are selected and the criteria used. One new addition this year is the NAIA Football Performance Index.
One thing we did not discuss in the video is how the NAIA Performance Index is calculated. It is worth noting the performance index only calculates wins and losses versus NAIA opponents. So any wins or losses against FCS-DII-DIII opponents is not factored into the performance index.
